Cherries in the Snow is a delicious vintage recipe with minimal ingredients that feeds a crowd and can be prepared the day before, making it the perfect party dessert.
Prepare the angel food cake mix according to package directions and bake in a 9x13 baking pan. Let cool completely. When cool, cut into 1 inch cubes.
Beat cream cheese and sugar together with an electric hand mixer until smooth. Spoon the whipped topping and almond extract to cream cheese mixture. Beat again until creamy and smooth.
Place half of the cubed angel food cake into the bottom of a trifle dish or a baking dish. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the angel food cake. Evenly spoon 1 can of the Cherry Fruit Filling.
Repeat the layers.
Refrigerate at least 2 hours, up to one day before serving.
