    1. Salt and pepper the roast.

    2. Heat the oil in a heavy pan over high heat and sear the roast on all sides.

    3. If adding carrots or potatoes place those in the crock pot first. Add the pot roast to the crockpot.

    4. Sprinkle over a packet of au jus gravy, a packet of ranch seasoning, 6- 8 pepperoncini's and the butter on top of the roast.

    5. Cook on low 7 hours.
