For the meatballs
For the gravy
Spray a 7-8 quart crock pot with non-stick cooking spray or use a crock pot liner.
Pour the beef broth, worchestershire sauce, tomato paste and butter in the bottom and stir together.
Add in the sliced onions and mushrooms.
If you are using frozen meatballs, add those on top of the onions and mushrooms.
For homemade meatballs, prepare the mixture:
Using a large mixing bowl, add the first 8 ingredients together: ground beef, onions, garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, panko breadcrumbs and milk. Mix together just until combined, do not over mix.
Shape the ground beef mixture into 1 inch balls. Place into the crock pot.
Cover and cook on low 6 hours, or high for 3 hours.
When the time is up, whisk the cornstarch and cold water together in a small bowl and pour into the crock pot. Mix into the gravy.
Turn the slow cooker to the high setting and cook another 10 minutes until the gravy thickens.
Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
